My Own Way is my second album, and in a lot of ways, it feels like the real beginning.
My first record (Stories from an Old Set of Strings) was just me and a guitar—recorded during a time when I was figuring out how to get back to music after a long stretch away. This one is different. It’s a full band, a bigger sound, and a clearer sense of what I want to say and how I want to say it.
The songs still come from the same place—stories about trying to hold on, let go, grow up, and stay connected to the people and places that matter. But now there’s more energy behind them. You’ll hear electric guitars, drums, bass, Hammond organ—things I grew up loving in the music that shaped me.
This album is about finding a way forward on my own terms, without waiting for anyone else to sign off on it. If you’ve ever felt like you had to start over or prove to yourself that it’s not too late to do the thing you care about… this one’s for you.
Track List
Dedicated
This one’s for the folks who give more than they get. I wrote it for someone who gave up a lot to lead and serve others, but it resonates with anyone who’s poured themselves into coaching, mentoring, parenting, or teaching.
Blunt Words, Sharp Edges
Sometimes the hardest part of a relationship is when both people want to make it work but still keep hurting each other. This song came out of that space—when honesty isn’t the issue, but communication still cuts too deep.
Running Back to Me
This one’s about the quiet hope that someone who left might still find their way back. It’s a reflection on what’s left behind after love doesn’t work out the way you thought it would.
When Things Fall Apart
You expect heartbreak in romance. But when close friendships unravel, it hits differently. This song is about that surprise, that grief, and not really knowing what to do with it.
Better Days
This one leans into nostalgia—remembering someone I loved and the good moments we shared. It’s less about loss and more about holding on to the warmth of what once was.
Blank Page
Every songwriter knows that moment when the words just won’t come. This is about that spiral—when a blank page feels louder than anything you can play or sing, and doubt starts to creep in.
Explode
This track digs into the regret and fixation that can follow a one-time mistake. It’s about the weight of something you wish you could take back, and how some people linger in your mind longer than they should.
What’s Next
A short instrumental that gives a little nod to where I’m headed. No lyrics—just a loose, curious feel that points toward whatever comes after this.
