You Will Be Mine (Full Band Version)

There are some songs that hit because you’re inspired by something, and they just flow. “You Will Be Mine” was one of those songs.

I wrote it when I was in my 20s and I was looking at a friend of mine’s MySpace page (remember MySpace?) and she had posted some pictures from a modeling photo shoot that she had done. There was one photograph that stopped me in my tracks. There was something about the look that this photographer captured that was one of those “so simple, but says so much” kind of looks. And I couldn’t shake it.

Now, a few years prior to this, I had a major crush on this particular friend. Nothing came of it, and eventually, we found our way past the awkwardness of unrequited feelings and became actual friends.

But when I saw this picture, I thought to myself “if I still had a thing for her, this shot would have floored me”. So I used that thought to write the song.

I’ve always loved the way that this song came out, but hearing the way that this full band version came out is a whole new level of excitement.

You Will Be Mine (Full Band Version) Lyrics

Verse
Those dark eyes staring at me
From against the wall
You seem to know that feelings don’t have
No place at all
Still I try to make you understand
I’m just a man

You seem to know the reason
But don’t let it through
This desire’s swelling up in me
What should I do
Your eyes say something different
I know it’s you

Chorus
The way you look, the way you stare
The way your eyes say nothing’s there
The way you smile and turn to me
Is just enough to make you believe
That we can stop the ands of time
And for tonight
You will be mine

Verse
You try to be so vulnerable
But that’s a lie
I can see what’s behind those eyes
When I walk by
You come and take me by the hand
I’m just a man

I can tell you one thing
That nothing’s changed
Now everything I wanted
Is within range
This time we have is long overdue
I know it’s you

Chorus
The way you look, the way you stare
The way your mouth says nothing’s there
The way you smile and turn to me
is just enough to make me believe
That we can stop the hands of time
And for tonight
You will be mine

Chorus
The way you look, the way you stare
The way your mouth says nothing’s there
The way you smile and turn to me
is just enough to make me believe
That we can stop the hands of time
And for tonight
You will be mine
